A Note from Principal Webb

It’s a busy five days at BFES next week!

  • Mother Son Kickball is tonight from 4pm-7pm in the BFES back fields. You can buy tickets at the gate with cash or card.
  • A Book a Day Keeps the Monsters Away Book Fair starts Monday! Your child will have an opportunity to shop the Fair with his/her class. Parents are welcome to shop with their child during classroom shopping as well.  After school family shopping is Tuesday, October 29 until 4:30 (during PTO’s Jim 'N Nick’s Spirit Night pick up).
  • Grandparents’ lunches next week during our Monster Book Fair. Come on in and after lunch, check out the Book Fair. If a grandparent will be checking out your child from school, please send in a note that day to allow them to go home with them.
  • Congratulations to five of our fifth-grade girls—Ava Barnabie-Dehar, Maddie Grace Cervino, Madison Drye, Indie Joye, and Eva Mahoney—they came to me with a plan to revive our old garden and recently launched what they've named our: Girls for Greatness Garden. They put in the work and recently earned a $600 Environmental Education Grant from the City of Milton, which Mayor Peyton Jamison awarded to them last Friday after they gave him a tour and a taste of their homegrown veggies. I can’t wait to see future students dig in to keep it growing--despite the name--any student is welcome to help with the garden.
  • Red Ribbon Week is next week! Dress-up information can be found further below in the newsletter. On Thursday, we have book character dress up day. Students should not wear masks or bring extra “pieces” to their costume such as play swords or any type of lookalike weapon that goes with their costume.
  • Check out our Lost & Found. Scroll down and a picture is located under announcements.
  • BFES is not an early voting site.

Fall Scholastic Book Fair Information!

A Book a Day Keeps the Monsters Away Book Fair starts Monday! Your child will have an opportunity to shop the Fair with his/her class. Teachers will let you know the date and time. We welcome parents to shop with their child during classroom shopping.

Additional ways to shop the Fair –

  • Family Shopping after school until 4:30pm Tuesday, October 29 during Jim ‘N Nicks Spirit Night pick up

  • Grandparents Lunches on Wednesday, 10/30 (5th/3rd/2nd) & Thursday, 10/31 (4th/K/1st). This is a special opportunity to welcome our grandparents into BFES by first having lunch with their grandchildren in the cafeteria and then shopping at the Book Fair. If you haven’t already reached out to grandparents, we hope that you will.

Accepted payment methods at the Fair –

In lieu of teacher gift certificates, add funds directly to teacher eWallets through the links below to allow them to build their classroom library from the Fair as well as Scholastic’s entire online catalog!

Please note that per Scholastic, each purchase made at the Fair will include sales tax and all cash registers will automatically round up purchase totals to the nearest dollar. Funds from the register round up go towards classroom books. If you would like to opt out, have your child let the volunteer cashier know at checkout.

We have open volunteer slots and would love your help - even if you can’t stay for the entire shift.  All volunteers who sign up for 2+ time slots will receive 10% off their Book Fair purchases.

We’re excited to see everyone next week – and thank you for your support!
