Happy Friday, BFES Families!

9/11: The following was announced at 8:46am this morning just so that you are aware. On this day, September 11th, 25 years ago…tragedy hit America. This was a very sad day for our country, but on this day and the days that followed, America also showed tremendous bravery, strength, and unity. Firefighters, police officers, soldiers, and every day Americans helped others who were hurting both inside and outside. September 11th is now known as Patriot Day. And for all of those that lost their lives and the heroes that helped America through this tragic day, I would like for us all to observe a one-minute moment of silence beginning at 8:46 this morning.

• Lost & Found is filling up. Please write your child’s name in their jackets, sweatshirts, and also on their water bottles and lunch bags. We can get them back to them a lot quicker when they go missing!
• Volunteer at BFES: Don’t forget, to work in the classrooms with children you must be volunteer trained. This training does not take long at all and helps to avoid hang-ups at the front desk when coming to volunteer your time.

• Wednesday, October 28th –30th: 5th Grade Camp Jekyll Field Trip
• Tuesday, November 3rd:  Election/Remote Learning Day (no in school learning for students)
• November 23rd through November 27th: No School – Thanksgiving Break
• December 21st through January 4th: No School – Winter Break
• January 5th: Semester 2 Begins

Attention: Any third, fourth, or fifth grader interested in entering the Fulton County Technology Competition

The Fulton County Schools Technology Competition is a regional competition for the Georgia Student Technology Competition. Students in grades 3-12 compete in a variety of categories by entering a student-created technology project. The in-person county technology competition will be on January 9 at North Springs High School. Projects are to be designed and created by the student outside of school. Some adult guidance is allowed, but it must be clear that the submitted work was done by the student. Students who win at the district level will compete at state competition. We are excited to announce that we kicked off our PTO Membership Drive on September 1! We’ve already raised $23,000 toward our $150,000 goal, with 31% of BFES families participating so far. 

As more families participate, we get closer to fully funding the programs and resources that benefit our entire school—including the STEM Lab.

Along with our membership drive, we have plenty of opportunities to connect with and support our school community this fall:

• September 17 | Taziki’s Spirit Night — Take the night off from cooking with a Taziki’s Mediterranean Café Family Dinner Kit! Place your order by September 14 and conveniently pick it up during afternoon carpool on September 17.
• September 18 | Staff Lunch — We’re treating our amazing BFES staff to a tailgate-themed lunch, catered by Smoke on the Farm.
• September 30 | Wednesday Welcome Crew — Police and Firefighters will be at morning carpool!
• October 9 | Bobcat Bash Carnival — Tickets are on sale now. You can purchase yours HERE (Keep in mind: this event is included in an EVENT PASS with your bronze or above Bobcat Booster Membership).
• November 9 | Mother/Son Kickball — Moms and sons, get ready for a fun day on the field! More information and registration details will be shared soon.
