An Update From Principal Webb on 2020-21

6/29/2020 10:27 pm

Good Evening BFES Families,

I hope you are all well and staying safe. Today, Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney announced Fulton County Schools is planning to return to school with face-to-face instruction on Monday, August 17, 2020 (*this date is a change). This is dependent on the Department of Public Health’s advice related to the future health and safety conditions due to our county’s COVID-19 numbers. An additional parent option would be for your child to participate in remote learning at home.

In preparation for our return, we are adjusting practices in order to provide the safest conditions for your children and our staff. These changes include, but are not limited to:

  • bus rider procedures
  • carpool procedures
  • arrival and dismissal procedures
  • cleaning practices
  • student traffic flow within the building
  • staff wearing masks required (encouraged for students)
  • cafeteria scheduling
  • school clinic processes
  • recess procedures
  • limited/restricted visitor access
  • food service plans

I am working with BFES Staff and other building leaders to put these plans into action with transparency and fidelity. There will be a series of FCS return to school briefings during the month of July related to topics such as health and safety, nutrition, the individual remote learning option, and technology. Please monitor the FCS websites for more information on reopening and I will continue to forward updates as I receive them.

I do not have detailed information at this point about the changes shared today. Please know that some changes will be on the smaller scale while others will be of a larger scale. I appreciate your support in helping me to make it all work. Your flexibility and understanding is so appreciated. This has been a fluid situation for all of us since March and I believe it will continue be that way for a while. I will be working diligently with our staff to make certain our school is the safest and cleanest school in the state!

I miss seeing your kids and hope to see them Monday, August 17th

Sincerely,

Don Webb
